2011 "Go For The Gold" Regatta Starting Sequence

The RC Starting Board posts the currently starting Fleet's #, Course letter and wind direction to the first mark
Course letters are A, B, C, D for once around - and AA, BB, CC, DD for twice around
Starts are always in the direction of the windward mark (compass heading on white board)
Only the currently starting Fleet's information will be on this Starting Board at any time.
If you see your Fleet flag, your fleet is in its Starting Sequence!

Example here is for Fleet 1 (other Fleets use numeral pennants 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and so on)

Time to Start Flag(s) Horn  Description
-5 Fleet flag goes UP One short toot  Warning signal for current Fleet
(this example uses numeral pennant 1 )
 -4 Fleet flag stays up,
Preparatory "P" goes UP

One short toot   Preparatory "P" flag goes up
 -1

Fleet flag stays UP,

"P" comes DOWN

One LONG toot  "P" flag comes down,
final minute before start
0 Fleet flag comes DOWN                       One short toot  Fleet STARTS!

There is a minimum of one minute between the Start of the current Fleet and the Warning of the next Fleet.
This allows resetting of the start line, changing course letters on the starting board, etc.
The next Fleet may also be postponed with the AP flag if more time is needed by the RC.
If AP is used, and once RC is ready, the AP flag is dropped one minute before the next Warning flag is raised.

Important note: Each Fleet's numeral pennant will be flying the entire pre-start time for that Fleet.
The Fleet flag goes up signifying the Warning (-5 mins), stays up through the Preparatory up (-4) and Preparatory down (-1) and only comes down AT THE FLEET'S START (0).
