Services: Information regarding any local service, support group, agency, or program is available to people of all ages by phone or by visit. Assistance is offered to help contact the referral source, if needed. Research is conducted on specific questions and problems when answers are not readily available. Follow-up phone calls are offered to insure that the referrals made were helpful. Information & Assistance provides appointment scheduling for community programs such as TaxAide (Free Tax Form Assistance), Free Legal Services, HICAP (Free Medicare & Supplemental Insurance Counseling), 55 Alive Driving Education Classes, Renters’/Homeowners’ Tax Assistance, and Low-cost Blood Test Appointments for the Health Fair.
Occasional Educational Workshops are sponsored and offered to local residents as a public-service. An Elder Abuse Prevention Workshop and a Family Violence Prevention Workshop have been offered so far.
Mission: It is the mission of Information & Assistance to empower Nevada County residents of all ages to maintain their independence through access to appropriate support services and programs. Help Line strives to provide accurate, complete and useful information in a timely fashion. It is our goal to assist people with solving their problems and answering their questions in a friendly and helpful manner.
