The First Annual Nevada County Estate Planning Fair took place on Thursday, September 24, thanks to the Gold Country Estate Planning Council, Nevada County Leave A Legacy and the Senior Citizens Foundation. The Land Trust is a member of the Leave A Legacy consortium, along with 47 other charitable organizations in Nevada County.
The Fair gave more than 100 interested individuals the opportunity to learn more about local estate planning professionals, procedures and laws in an informal Open House setting.
For those who were interested, there were three panel discussions featuring local estate planning professionals. The panels were designed to help people learn how to plan for their futures, including how to pick the right estate planner, what kinds of services and programs are available, and more.
Planning your estate or even drawing up a simple will is an intensely personal issue. There are many qualified professionals in the county who can assist you. But it helps to know how to go about choosing the one whos right for you.
"The value in having these services provided locally is that all the benefit comes directly back to the community," explains NCLT Executive Director Cheryl Belcher. "People can participate directly in the future of the community they love."
NCLT Board member Jim Dodds is the chair of the Land Trusts planned giving program. If you or anyone you know may be interested in learning more, please call Jim Dodds at the Land Trust office.
