News, May 1999 |
Due to unforeseen conflicts, the Land Trust has changed the dates of its first two childrens environmental education and outreach classes scheduled at Burton Park outside Nevada City.
The new classes will be offered Friday, June 18th, and Saturday, June 19th, from 9 am to 3:30 pm. You can sign up for one or the other, since the same program will be offered each day.
This is the kickoff pilot program in preparation for more extensive offerings next summer.
Each day-long educational session consists of three units or modules one on birds, one on plants and trees, and one on pond ecology. In the future the Land Trust plans to expand the module offerings to include archeaology, Native American studies, art, and more.
Each session is limited to 20 students. So call the Land Trust office soon to receive registration information and other materials. All students must be pre-registered to attend.
This program is funded through generous grants from the William and Marian Ghidotti Foundation and the Smith Foundation, along with support by the Land Trust.
We extend our thanks, also, to Mrs. Francis Burton, who has graciously offered to let us use her property even though Burton Park is not yet open to the public.
It is our good fortune that she enjoys being a part of the Land Trusts educational programs and therefore is letting us use Burton Park for this special purpose.
