What to bring:
Folding lawn chair, water, snack or lunch.

Fee: $15 (members $10)

Learn the art of basket making with South Yuba River State Park docent and artist Judy Nichols. Judy has been teaching pine needle basketry since 1991. You can see some of her lovely work at the Gene Speck Silver State Art Gallery in Reno.

She refers to her art as "Knot-Wo", meaning filled with peace. This can also be said of the setting for this workshop, Mathis Pond. It is one of the Land Trusts wildlife preserves, located in Grass Valley.

Judy will supply the materials. Instruction will include how to gather and prepare pine needles and beginning construction of a basket.
