Our foothill streams are well known for their
gold, but they are also rich in aquatic life. Randy Oliver will wade with you through Deer
Creek, sampling the aquatic habitats, identifying and describing the fauna and flora.
Randy will discuss the fascinating habits, adaptations, microenvironments, food webs, and
dispersal of the interesting creatures and plants. Randy Oliver is an amateur naturalist
with a B.S. in biological sciences and an M.S. in Fisheries Biology. He leads streams
surveys and nature walks on a regular basis for various environmental and school groups.
His lively teaching style and love of the subject should make this a memorable day for
all.
Prepare to wade knee-deep in cool water. We will be walking along the shore and wading
on slippery rocks for only a few hundred yards. |
