Join the knowledgeable docents from the Golden
Drift Museum on an informative and thoroughly enjoyable tour of historic Dutch Flat.
Unlike most other gold rush towns, Dutch Flat was never destroyed by fire and many of it's
original buildings are still standing. Highlights include: the Methodist Church (1861),
the School (rebuit 1898), the Chinese store (1870's), Odd Fellows Hall (1858), Masonic
Lodge (1856), Trading Post (1854), Dutch Flat Hotel (1852). There will be ample time to
visit the museum and learn about the region's geology and mining history, early
inhabitants (Nisenan) and the lumber and fruit industries. Highlights include Chinese
alter, a unique Tin display and an outstanding Time Line exhibit.
The tour starts at 10:00am and should take about 2 hours. Enjoy your lunch in the arbor
of the museum. You are welcome to spend the remainder of the day there. |
