Over 100 species of wildflowers bloom on this
volcanic mudflow from April to July. The second wave of color features seas of
meadowfoam, 1000's of Ramm's madia "like wading in liquid gold", white hyacinth,
purple butterflyweed, meadowrue, a pygmy sedum, lupines and colorful clovers. Bring your magnifier, Carolyn Chainey-Davis of the California Native Plant Society will show you the fundamentals of flower ID. |
