Video Professor CDs
A quick guide to using them

Each topic available has 3 CDs - 3 levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Note, they do not necessarily follow general computer expertise levels: any person could find all levels of value. See "CD Content" page for an outline of each.

The first time you run one, it will put an icon on your desktop. Double click it to run the CD - then and for each subsequent CD use. (Note that these CDs utilize a sound card in your computer and external speakers.) If there is no icon, go Start/Run or Windows Explorer/CD Drive/DC icon.exe.

Bypass the introduction - and do not choose the free Internet option - by clicking Continue.

Click on "Learn How To Use This CDROM" (at the bottom) if you need more general CD help; then return to Main Menu.

Now you can go down each chapter in the Table of Contents for instruction; point to each for a brief description of its contents. At the end of each Chapter, you can choose to take a small test.

Regardless of the version of the program about which you are learning, it is useful to have your own program open when you are using the CD. When you want to compare, see differences in, or test features, click Pause on the CD and go to your own program. This can also help you determine the value of upgrading to the CD version of the program. Minimize the VP window if you want to get it out of the way.

Process for distribution

Email or call the Librarian - Tom DeChaine: tld@objective.org. When a CD you have requested becomes available and it is your turn to review it, you will be notified by Email.

If you do not respond (Email or phone) by the next couple days, someone else may be offered that CD; however, you will be next in line after you respond.

You will have use of each CD for 3 days minimum (depending on demand); you should have ample time to go through the instruction as much as necessary.

No one can have more than 1 CD set at a time except where no demand exists.

It will be the responsibility of a new user to obtain the CD from its current user (if checked out from the Library). Each party of an exchange will be notified of the other to enable communications to expedite the exchange. If no one is waiting for a CD in use, the current user will return it to the librarian.
