Nevada County Animal Shelter needs help.....

The Nevada County Animal Shelter on McCourtney Road can always use volunteer help. If you think you'd like to help, consider one or more of the following ways:

  • fostering for shorts periods of time (instructions and supplies provided),
  • taking in spayed or neutered animals for a week or two until they recover from the surgery,
  • taking in kittens who have an upper-respiratory problem or minor cold and giving them antibiotics until it clears up,
  • walking dogs or cuddling cats one or two days a week,
  • taking home laundry,
  • light administrative tasks,
  • transporting animals to the vet.

Please contact Ruth at 530-273-2958 or RuthRasmussen@msn.com for more information or even more ways to help. Even if you only help ONE time, it's a BIG help! Donations are also welcome.

Please consider helping the Nevada County Animal Shelter in the following way: they need people to take a cat or kitten(s) home for a week or two to recuperate from minor colds or upper respiratory problems. This doesn't happen often, but it would be nice to have a list of people who might be able to help when the time comes.  Medications, food, and advice will be provided.

For more information, contact Ruth: 273-2958 or RuthRasmussen@msn.com. There are many other ways to volunteer and/or help the shelter. Please ask Ruth about these opportunities when you contact her.

The Pet Adoption League is collecting blankets for the shelters. If you have clean, usable, non-electric ones, please call PAL at 530-273-7958 or email pal_95945@yahoo.com. PAL is also accepting clean towels, cat and dog beds, leashes and collars, pet toys, pet food, and other pet-related items.
