Iris
Upcoming Events for SFIS

Welcome everyone to our Sierra Foothills Iris Society page of upcoming events!

***Please read the entire page as we have added new information below about "Region 14 Spring Regional 2008".

As always, monthly meetings, 4th Tuesday of each month, 7 pm, 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA, in the Rose Room of the Auburn Civic Center. We have different programs each month about Iris in one form or another. Regular programs like how to show your iris and how to dig and divide will be scheduled to help those who need these lessons. No meeting in December.

We hope to see all of you who have continued to support us, along with some new faces.

Our show dates for 2008 are May 3rd and 4th, with entries being taken on May 2nd from 5 pm until 8:00 pm (subject to change), entries will also be admitted on Saturday morning from 7:30 am until 9:30 am, then all have to leave the show areas so members can place the entries for the judges to begin at 10 am.

The show will be open to the public from 12 noon until 5 pm on Saturday, May 3rd, Sunday the show will be open to the public from 10 am until 3 pm.

Show place is the same as posted here for our meetings, 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA.

The public is welcome to enter iris in our show, you just need to know the name of your iris and bring it in during the hours posted for entries and we will be happy to guide you with your entry.

FREE TO THE PUBLIC, we look forward to seeing you at the show and hopefully at one of our meetings.

*Our sale dates for 2008 are, July 26th at the Auburn Raley's on Lincoln Way from 9 am until 3 pm, our second sale will be August 23rd at the Grass Valley Raley's on Freeman Lane from 9 am until 3 pm.

Please come early for any iris you might want as last year we sold out very early in the day for both sales. Bring your wish list and join us at one or both of our sales as we will have a lot of members there to talk iris with and answer any questions you might have.

We sold out of reblooming iris very early in the day too as now more and more people are looking to acquire these iris that might bloom at least 2 times and maybe more per year.

Hope to see you soon at some of our events!

***Something new, our society will be hosting our first Spring Regional in 2008 entitled, GOLD-N-IRIS , April 25th-27th, here in our area of Region 14, affiliate of the American Iris Society.

We have hosted two Fall Regionals which require much less time, work and expense than a spring time event. We will have four gardens on tour for those attending to view the guest iris we have acquired from hybridizers near and far.

*It will be held on April 25th-27th in 2008, so mark your calendars early so you will be able to join us. The cost to attend the entire event will be $94.00, that will include meetings, seedling show, garden tours, banquet dinner with our guest speaker, Brad Kasperek from Utah who has hybridized many of your favorite "Zebra Kidz", like Baboon Bottom, Grape Snakez, Quail Ale, LLama Mama, King Tush, etc. There will also be judges training on tall bearded with Brad on Sunday April 27th.

You can check the Region 14's website online at http://www.aisregion14.org/ (copy and paste in address bar), as Kitty Loberg has done an excellent job by posting some information there along with the registration form you can print out and mail to our registrar, Kathy Braaten. http://www.aisregion14.org/Spring2008.html (copy and paste in address bar).

I am not real good at the html therefore you will have to copy and paste:) Maybe one day!

Thanks again to my pal David for helping me with this website, you are totally appreciated!!!

If there is anything else you can think of for us to put here please send us an email, we would love to talk to you and would welcome any help and feedback.

Have a wonderful spring and we hope you have many beautiful blooms to enjoy!
