The Sierra TrailBlazers Running Club (STRC) is: Located in the Grass Valley/Nevada City area. Committed to the improvement of health and physical fitness for people of all ages and levels of fitness. A source of information and support to runners and walkers.
STRC provides A monthly newsletter including a calendar of fitness events. An opportunity for members to meet and run/walk with others of similar interests and abilities. Scheduled week-day and week-end runs. Track workouts during spring and summer. Bi-monthly socials and seasonal parties. Financial assistance to local youth organizations. Organized fun runs and training for children. Discounts at local stores.

Constitution of the Sierra TrailBlazers Running Club
(Amended February 5, 2006, by the membership)
Title:
The name of the association shall be “Sierra TrailBlazers Running Club”, hereafter referred to as “this association” or “this organization”.
Purpose:
This association may hold any walking or running events deemed necessary to further promote the objectives of the organization.
This association may also print and publish books, magazines and newsletters; make awards; engage in community activities and social events and to publicize by appropriate means the benefits of long distance running and jogging, and to coordinate with other agencies advocating running or jogging as a means of physical fitness.
Affiliation:
This association shall be a chapter of the Road Runners Club of America, and all measures adopted by that body must be considered by this organization.
Leadership (Governing Body)
The governing body of this organization shall be vested in a Board of Directors consisting of the following:

Activities
Duties of Board Members:
President – to preside over meetings, represent this association in the RRCA, to call any special meetings, and to appoint committees and chairpersons thereof.
Vice-president – to assume the powers of the president in his/her absence, and to take on special assignments as requested by the President.
Secretary – to record minutes at the meetings, keep a file of such minutes, and, when requested by the President, to accept assignments involving correspondence and the keeping of records.
Treasurer – to administer all financial matters, make disbursements of funds and report any financial transactions to the board in a monthly treasurer’s report.
Newsletter Editor – to prepare a monthly newsletter reporting on the various activities of the organization.
Membership Director – To maintain an accurate list of members and dues renewal dates, encourage new membership, and carry on necessary correspondence regarding members.
Activities Director – To coordinate club activities and the utilization of volunteer club members in carrying out races, special events and other social activities.
Eligibility
Officers and directors may serve successive terms.
Only those who have been members of this organization for a period of at least 30 days shall be eligible to vote in club elections for new officers or constitutional amendments.
Only those who have been members of this organization for a period of at least 6 months shall be eligible to run for office.
Term of Office
Terms of office shall be for one year, July 1 to June 30, beginning with the close of the meeting at which elections are held and continuing until succeeding election is completed. In no case shall a term of office begin later than August 31st. Offices filled upon resignation may be appointed and their term shall expire at the end of the normal term.
Offices filled upon resignation shall also expire at the time of the first meeting of the fiscal year.
Elections
Officers shall be elected by simple majority vote of those present at the general meeting and those casting votes by mail.
Procedural requirements
Meeting shall be conducted in accordance with parliamentary procedures and guided by Robert’s Rule of Order.
A simple majority vote of the members present is necessary to pass measures, except a 2/3 majority is required to pass an amendment to the constitution and by-laws.
A quorum for the board of directors shall consist of at least four (4) members of the board. No official meeting shall be held unless a quorum is present.
Constitutional amendment
A Constitutional amendment may be accomplished by a two-thirds vote of the members present at the meeting.
Only those who have been members of this organization for thirty days prior to the proposal of such amendment may vote upon such.
All members must be notified at least seven (7) days prior to voting that constitutional amendments will be discussed and voted on.
Meetings will be held at least once each quarter and more frequently if called by the president.
Finances
Dues shall be determined by a majority of the members present at a business meeting and shall not be changed more often than once per year.
Accountability of funds
This is a nonprofit organization. Dues, entry fees and other monies received by the organization will be spent entirely for carrying out the stated purpose of the organization.
No part of the net earnings of the club shall inure to the benefit of its individuals.
Members using association funds for any purpose shall give a full record of expenditures to the treasurer.
This organization shall be empowered to participate in fund-raising activities.
Dues and insurance premiums may be disbursed to a parent organization as determined by the board of directors.
Dissolution
In the event of dissolution of this association, the funds in the treasury after all creditors have been paid shall go to the Road Runners Club of America.
