Mono Pass to McGee Pass 8/2005

Day 1

August 2005: We hiked from Mono Pass (accessed via Toms Place) to McGee Pass (accessed via McGee Creek). The trip turned out to be a little more difficult than expected. One of the reasons for this is that the TOPO! program gave us en estimate of 32 miles, when the trip actually turned out to be almost 40 miles (determined from Tom Harrison's maps). Things were compounded by the fact that we started late on the first day and hence only hiked around two miles, making subsequent days even longer.

Despite the above, due to some 12-mile days and the presence of a lot of mosquitos in the last half of the trip, we actually completed the trip in 5 days instead of the planned 6.

Notes on photos: Photos were taken with an "old" 5.2MP Minolta Dimage-7 camera and processed using GIMP and Udi Fuchs' UFRaw GIMP input plugin.
