Selden Pass, 2000

Day One

This was the last leg of the Muir trail for me. I still have a few slivers left, but this was the last major piece. Steve still has two big stretches left, hopefully we'll pick those up next year.

This trip involved hiking from Florence Lake, over Selden Pass, to Edison Lake. I haven't totaled up the mileage exactly, but the loop was probably around 45 miles. Both Florence and Edison Lakes are large SCE reservoirs and both have water taxis which go from their road access (west) ends to their trailhead (east) ends. Click on thumbnails for full sized images.

We are outside the Florence Lake store waiting for the water taxi to the other side of the lake. Taking the water taxi brought us to within four miles of the Muir Trail.
This is the trail head end of the water taxi.
Piute Creek tumbling down from Piute Canyon. This is where we ended one of the previous year's trips.

Here's an interesting granitic rock formation by the side of Piute Creek.
